Young golfers spend the spring swinging

On Thursday, May 12, two golfers from Vashon High School competed at the Nisqually League finals at the Gold Mountain Golf Course in Bremerton. There were 40 players from nine schools at the tournament.

Maximo Mandl scored 103 points, just missing the cutoff to qualify for the district championships.

Cole Devereau’s score of 91 sent him to districts, which took place yesterday, again at Gold Mountain.

Coach Andy Sears said he has been pleased with the 22-member team’s performance this year.

“The team has worked very hard this season and I’m very proud how much they have improved,” he said.
