The Vashon volleyball team continued their winning ways last week. The Pirates celebrated an emotional senior night by crushing league rival Cascade Christian, 3-0, on Monday, Oct. 10, in front of a large and energized home crowd. It was a memorable way for the 10 seniors on the team to end their Vashon home play.
A road win at Chimacum last Thursday kept their undefeated streak in league play alive.
On Saturday they traveled to Mount Baker, where they faced stiff competition from 11 other teams. The Pirates played a grueling 17 games in eight hours and finished fourth in the tournament. The team beat Blaine, 3-0; Darrington, 2-1; Ferndale, 2-1; and Riverside Christian 2-1. They then fell to the eventual tournament winners, Mount Baker.
The match for third and fourth was hard fought, with the girls coming up just short to Meridian.
The Pirates took on Life Christian in an away game on Monday (after press deadline).
There are only two matches left in league play: Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Orting and the regular season wrap-up on Wednesday, Oct 26, at Seattle Christian.
