Lacrosse wins
On March 20, the Vashon High School Lacrosse Club opened its season with a solid win over a strong Puyallup team. Vashon scored first on a goal from senior midfielder Ross Bowers and never looked back.
Puyallup kept the game close until the fourth quarter, when Vashon opened a four-goal lead.
Vashon’s defense turned in an especially strong effort. Led by junior Austin Franks and senior Chris Griffin, Vashon controlled a talented Puyallup offensive attack that scored 14 goals against Vashon in the 2008 season.
Additionally, Vashon’s offense spread the goals and assists among five players for a balanced attack.
Five Vashon goals came off of assists. Sophomore Gregor Davidheiser led Vashon scoring with three goals and two assists.
Vashon’s next game is at home against Eastlake at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26.
