After one loss and one win last week, the Pirate soccer team is firmly in second place in the Nisqually League with a 4-1 record to date.

The boys demonstrated speed, agility and teamwork on the pitch when they beat Orting, 3-0, on March 27 at home.

Senior forward Ezra Koenig proved to be key in achieving results that day, scoring the first goal in the first half and minutes later assisting Victor Moreira’s next goal.

In the second half, play capped off in a great combination pass from Koenig to junior Sean O’Neil, who put the ball squarely into the back of the net to secure the three-goal win.

With a fighting spirit, the Pirates went up against the undefeated Seattle Christian Warriors at Valley Ridge Park on Thursday under unrelenting rain conditions.

After a scoreless first half, Seattle Christian was granted a penalty kick where they earned a first goal. Minutes later a header from the Warriors was deflected, resulting in another score for the opposition.

The experienced senior defense of Jesse Hazzard and Jessie Turner was a key factor in keeping the opponents without additional success. The final score of 2-0 remains the only loss for the Pirates this season.

The Pirates’ next game is after spring break, on Tuesday, April 17, against Cascade Christian.
