The Pirate soccer team has started off the season strong and now boasts a 4-1 record so far. Coach Karen Olsen, new to the program this year, says she likes what she has seen and is looking ahead to future success.
“Seeing the team progress over these past few weeks and watching them improve their skills and knowledge for the sport has been extremely rewarding. I think the team, and the program, has a lot of promise and will continue to improve in the coming years.”
The junior varsity team also is undefeated, tying its first two games and winning its game last Friday, while they were playing short two players.
Coach Jim Westcott, who joined the program just last week, had high praise for the girls.
“Not only did they hold their own, they rose to the challenge and won the game 3-1,” he said. “That shows a lot of character.”
The girls’ varsity team plays two home games next week, at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, and 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9.
