Eight Burton Beach rowers competed at Ergomania, the Northwest’s annual indoor rowing championship this past weekend, and four came home with medals.
Leading the way was Mabel Moses, who dominated the junior women’s lightweight division, winning gold with a personal best time of 7:30.9. After recovering,
“I’ve thought about this goal at every practice since September,”a jubilant Moses said after recovering. “I still can’t believe I was actually able to pull it off.”
World junior rowing medalist Gabbie Graves attained the silver medal in the junior open division, in a field of 78 competitors, after being pipped at the line by Holy Names’ novice phenomenon Isabella Battistoni.
Rounding out the Burton medalists were Davis Kelly, taking some time out from VHS basketball to win the youth 500 meter sprint and Dylan Carmody, who earned bronze in the same event.
