Vashon’s Olympus Pony Club traveled to Snohomish this past weekend to compete in the regional Quiz Rally competition against 84 competitors across 24 teams from 12 different clubs in the Northwest region.
Quiz Rally is a United States Pony Club non-riding team competition, where members show their knowledge and skills of horse management.
A multi-generational organization, Olympus sent 13 competitors ranging in ages from 10 to 70 years old, who collectively swept each division — winning four first place ribbons and one second place ribbon. D-1 level Pony Clubber Maggie Uhlir (14) took home the coveted high point ribbon in the Junior D Division with the top score in that division.
It was a dream day for the club, made up of hardworking kids and adults who worked two-hour weekly after school study sessions for nearly three months to earn their victories.
Olympus holds its annual spring horse show and main fundraiser of the year — The Sassy — on Saturday, May 17, at Paradise Ridge Horse Park. All are welcome, including island equestrians who wish to participate. The event makes competing in the Quiz Rally possible.
