Vashon girls soccer players had a strong showing in the all-league soccer teams this season, with several named to the honorary teams and one Islander chosen as an MVP.

Five Pirate players were named to the Nisqually League’s all-league teams, and Abigail Kim, an Islander who plays for Seattle Christian, was named the league’s Most Valuable Player. All-league players are voted for by coaches and fellow players.

Junior forward Lliralyn McEachern, who was third in league scoring this year with 20 goals, was named to the all-league’s first team. Senior midfielder Leena DeGuzman and freshman midfielder Madelyn McEachern were also named to the first team, and sophomore Emily Browne and junior Harper Howard were named to the second team.

The Pirates finished the season in state playoffs with a record of 10 wins and seven losses.

Abigail Kim, a freshman who lives on Vashon and is a forward on Seattle Christian’s soccer team, was named the league’s MVP this year.

Seattle Christian made it to the 1A state soccer championships this fall when it beat Cashmere High School in the semifinals, but lost the championship game to University Prep, 3-2. The team ended the season with a record of 19 wins and one loss.

Earlier this year Abigail  Kim also proved to be a rising track and field star when she qualified to compete in three track and field events in the Junior Olympics and placed in the top 10 in the long jump.

Jin Kim, Abigail’s father, said it was a special honor for her to be named MVP as a freshman.

“It was a good season,” he said. “It was almost a dream season.”
