Doubles teams prevail in Winebledon adult tennis competition

Last month, 11 doubles tennis teams battled it out in the Vashon Tennis Club’s Winebledon Tennis Tournament. Each team played about 36 games in a round robin tournament. The top eight teams vied for the coveted Winebledon Cup, playing a single elimination tournament one night and concluding the next morning.

The top eight teams vied for the coveted Winebledon Cup, playing a single elimination tournament one night and concluding the next morning.

The winners of the finals match were Steve Salonen and Ron Irvine, beating a very tough team of Mark Bennion and Jeremy Davidson: 3-6, 7-6, 6-1.

In the consolation category, Janelle Davis and Mike Douvier defeated Bart Queary (the tournament organizer) and Mary Beba.
