Support senior center with unofficial mayor votes for Bernie and Hilary

I just cast my votes for the Vashon Senior Center in the tight race for Unofficial Mayor of Vashon-Maury Island. I did so because I think transportation is one of the biggest issues facing islanders who have mobility constraints. I put my dollars in the Bernie and Hilary for Mayor bucket because these votes go to support two transportation programs designed with our elders' health in mind.

I just cast my votes for the Vashon Senior Center in the tight race for Unofficial Mayor of Vashon-Maury Island. I did so because I think transportation is one of the biggest issues facing islanders who have mobility constraints. I put my dollars in the Bernie and Hilary for Mayor bucket because these votes go to support two transportation programs designed with our elders’ health in mind.

Bluebird Medical transport takes senior citizens to off-island medical appointments. Demand for this program is already rising and I expect it to jump with the impending shuttering of the Franciscan Health Center. The Lunch Care-a-Van provides free round trip transportation to the senior center for home-bound seniors to enjoy a healthy meal and commune with friends. The Lunch-Care-a-Van is a fantastic tool to help seniors obtain two vital ingredients for a healthy life: nutrition and social engagement. This service in now offered three days per week.

I can’t help but be moved by a campaign that sports our own Bernie and Hilary on the same ticket. Together, they will make a great mayor.
