We would like to express our support for the administrators and staff of our school district that have been named and accused in the recent lawsuit. We know them to be talented, hard working individuals who have proven themselves dedicated to providing an enriched educational experience inclusive of all students.

You can imagine how painful it is to be accused of something that goes contrary to your every effort to establish schools that give each student the potential to thrive. All the information that we have indicates that the school district and these individuals have established policies and made comprehensive efforts to create a healthy, non-discriminatory learning environment.

The Vashon community takes the school district’s mission as a community endeavor. As such, a lawsuit like this which appears vindictive and punitive, injures everyone. Why not wait to file until the results come in from the independent third party investigation? A suit like this which also seeks punitive damages against named individuals puts a great strain on these individuals and their families. Let’s continue to support our faculty, staff, and administration in providing for the best schools possible..
