Burton neighbor’s noise complaint was addressed to wrong household

Dear Neighbor in Burton who is concerned by excess noise and amplified music and sent us an anonymous, unsigned letter, postmarked Sept. 2.

Dear Neighbor in Burton who is concerned by excess noise and amplified music and sent us an anonymous, unsigned letter, postmarked Sept. 2.

You sent your official-looking letter to the wrong address. We do not make excessive noise.

My husband is 90 and I am 77, and we are not new to the area, since you mentioned both situations in your letter.

I think you have mistaken us for our next door neighbors who had a wedding in their yard on the Burton Peninsula inner-bay waterfront a couple of weeks ago. You mentioned the sheriff in your letter, and when we called them, they had no record of a complaint against us.

We would request that future complaints be directed to the right persons and addresses.

By the way, the neighbors did contact everyone they could beforehand to let them know of their plans, and the music stopped at 10 p.m. — we know since we live next door to them.
