William J. Pinion passed away peacefully at his home on December 3, 2023. A Vashon resident for 13 years, William served as a Chief Engineer on the MV Klahowya, MV Rhododendron, MV Chetzemoka and as Staff Chief on the MV Salish.

William retired from the Washington State Ferry System in 2015 and in 2020 he moved to Cottonwood, Arizona to be close to his daughters. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hines-Pinion, and his daughters, Clover Pinion of Cottonwood, AZ and Amber Alaura of Phoenix, AZ, and 6 grandchildren.
