Wilbur “Bill” Hathaway, 85, “took his last flight” when he died on June 3, 2009, family members said.
Born Feb. 15, 1924, he was a spiritual and earnest man of integrity, a loving husband and father and patriotic veteran.
Hathaway was always willing to share his knowledge and his Air Force experiences in World War II, the Korean conflict and the Bomarc, Minuteman, Gemini and Apollo space programs.
A member of Quiet Birdman, American Legion, VFW, Vashon Veterans Association and many aviation associations, he was also a Space Flight Museum docent and aviation ground school seminar instructor through 2008.
He and his wife Gini were happily married for 62 years. Hathaway is survived by his five children — Roxy, LeAnn, Steven, Wilbur II and Norman — and by his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Family said they’ll miss his sense of humor and curiosity for life. A private service will be announced at a later date.
