Thomas “Tom” L. Stevens, a long-time Vashon Island resident, died Aug. 21, 2006, at the Vashon Community Care Center, after a brief illness. He was 75 years old.
Tom grew up on Vashon and worked for K2 Sports. He retired from K2 after many years in the sanding room. Â
Friends remember him as a quiet man known for his smile, easy conversation and his frequent walks around town. He enjoyed pull tabs at the Eagles Hall and at The Sportsman’s Inn.
He was a history buff and very well-educated. He could have a conversation about anything. He was a friend to all who knew him and will be missed by his friends on Vashon, especially his buddy and recent care giver Tim Laur. Â
His parents, Jack and Pam Stevens, died earlier as did his sister, Corly and friend Pete Bailey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to The Consumers Union of the United States or to The National Geographic Society. Â
At his request there will be no services. Â
Arrangements were entrusted to Island Funeral Service.
