Theodore (Ted) Gordon Smith of Stanwood died March 6, 2003. He was 74 years old.
He was born March 21, 1928, in Tukwila, Wash., to Robert “Chet” and Josephine Marie (Patowski) Smith.
Mr. Smith was a former member of the Elks in Ballard, did volunteer work and was always willing to help anyone and everyone, according to his friends.
He was a “Jack of all Trades” and the “Ultimate Packrat.” As a beloved father and wonderful husband who loved to tell stories, he was stubbornly opinionated and above all, loved by all who met him. Mr Smith, according to his family, was a gentle giant.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean Smith, sons Gary (Karen) Smith, Mark Smith, Craig (Lisa) Smith, daughters Linda (Michael) Erben, Nancy (Pat) Dwyer, sister-in-law Joan Shanahan, grandchildren Bridgette, Katie, Sarah (Justin) Cress, Lyndsey, Michelle, Chelsea, Allison, Hannah and Nick Dwyer.
A time of visitation was at Shaefer-Shipman Funeral Home on Friday, March 7, and memorial and graveside services were at Evergreen Washeli Cemetery on Monday, March 10.
The Smiths moved from Vashon about six months ago, according to the funeral home, after living many years on the island.
Memorial contributions may be given to Vashon Health Clinic or to Granny’s Attic.
