Shirley Gilbert Clow, of Vashon, died March 25, 2005, at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. She was 86 years old.
She was born July 4, 1918, in New York. She was raised in Connecticut and attended Mt. Holyoke College in Massachusetts, where she met her husband Richard H. Clow. They were married July 12, 1940, in Torrington, Conn. They moved to Los Angeles in 1946 where she received a master’s in library science.
She had various library positions in Pasadena and Santa Barbara.
After retirement, she and her husband moved to Vashon in 1983. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit on Vashon.
Survivors include her husband Richard of Vashon, daughter Faith Schmidt of Germantown, Md., son Jonathan Clow of Slovang, Calif., son-in-law James King of Vashon and four grandchildren. A daughter, April King, died earlier.
A service will be later.
