Shirley B. Columbo passed away Friday, February 19, 2010 while residing at Evergreen Manor in Federal Way, Washington. Born September 22, 1925 in Ekalaka, Montana, she grew up on the family farm with her brother and two sisters. After graduating from Ekalaka High School, Shirley moved to St. Maries, Idaho where she was employed as a telegrapher for the Milwaukee Railroad. Here she met and married Vincent Charles Carroll. They began their life in St. Maries, spent two years in Butte, Montana and then moved to Spokane Washington. After the death of her husband, Vincent, Shirley and their two children continued to reside in the Spokane Valley. Her marriage to James D. Columbo took place in 1967. They lived happily in the Spokane Valley for 30 years until James passed away in 1997. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Frances Guyer, husband Vincent Charles Carroll, husband James D. Columbo, and sister Dorothy j. Plantenberg. She is survived by two children, son, David Carroll and his wife Deborah, of Vashon Island, Washington, and daughter, Diane Carroll of Yardville, New Jersey; four granddaughters and their spouses: Amanda and Tyler Bledsoe, Bonnie and Joe Rydman, Julie and Jeff Mitchell, Deirdre and Anthony Mattina, great grandchildren Rachel Rydman, Tessa Mattina and Mitch Mitchell.
