Samuel Wilson, III

Samuel Wilson III died March 28, 2005, at his home on Vashon Island. He was 60 years old.

He was a resident of the Island for 30 years. He spent his summers, until he graduated from high school, at his family’s summer home at Magnolia Beach.

Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 26, 1944, to Samuel Wilson Jr. and Florence Ittner Wilson in Tacoma. He attended Stadium High School in Tacoma and graduated from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma in 1971 with a degree in English.

He was in the Army and had worked at various times at Tacoma General Hospital, the Kingdome, the University of Washington, and the Vashon Island Golf and Country Club on Maury Island.

He loved photography and travel and made three trips to the United Kingdom and Europe where he took many beautiful photographs.

Survivors include his brother, Bill Wilson of Seattle, his sister Penny Lightfoot of Longview, nephews Bill Lakefish of Bonney Lake, Wash. and Rob Lakefish of Aztec, New Mexico, and cousins Steve Wilson of Bradenton, Fla., George Meeks of Gig Harbor, and Marty Meeks of Hanford, Calif.

A memorial gathering will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at his brother’s home at 3715 S.W. Barton Street in West Seattle.
