Rosamond Esther “Rose” Johnson Schlosser, 86, died on Nov. 23, 2009, at Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk, Conn.
Born February 19, 1923, in Tacoma, she grew up on Manzanita Beach.
She joined the Coast Guard in 1944 and was stationed in New York, where she met her late husband George Henry Schlosser. After living in New Jersey for many years, she moved back to Vashon in 1979. She retired from Safeco in Seattle.
In her final years she moved to Connecticut to be with her daughter.
Survivors include sons John “Jack” Charles Schlosser II and his wife Maureen of Rochester Hills, Mich., and George “Buster” Henry Schlosser Jr. and his wife Lynn of Everett, Wash.; daughters Madeline “Maddy” Schlosser Kiska and husband Tom of Wilton, Conn., and Rosalind “Roz” Schlosser Kitchner and husband Butch of Olympia, Wash.; grandchildren Sarah Kiska Fitzgerald, Kimberly Schlosser Raffler, Dorothy Kiska, Brian Schlosser, Thomas Kiska, Whitney Kitchner and Vanessa Kitchner.
She was preceded in death by her parents Orville Kelly Johnson and Madeline Gertrude Adams; sister Dorothy “Dolly” Johnson Harrington Morris; aunts Rosamond “Roz” Mildred Adams Ferrari and Dorothy “Dodie” Kathleen Adams Hoffman; Philip Edward Adams and Miriam Esther “Mimi” Adams Lindbeck.
Services will be held at the Notre Dame Conva-lescent Home, and her ashes will be buried with her husband in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J.
