On November 17th, 2021, Robert Webster Prince, Jr. passed away after a long battle with colon cancer. An islander for almost 17 years, he is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Niamh Prince, Admissions Director at Harbor School, and his two cherished children, Amelia Prince, a 2018 Vashon High School graduate and Robby Prince a current Vashon High School senior.
Born on June 23rd, 1963 to parents Robert W. Prince Sr and Lorraine T. Parow, Rob grew up in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. A gentle giant he was a stand-out football lineman and wrestler in high school. Later, he became an award winning student-pilot in college and then followed his father’s career by becoming a commercial airline pilot. Rob’s 30 year career as a pilot took him all over the U.S., Europe, Asia and South-East Asia.
Mentally gifted and mechanically a savant, Rob could fix anything and everything and he did just that for his friends and family all his life. He often used these skills when restoring Plymouth Dusters, Barracudas and Alfa Romeo automobiles. When not knuckle busting under a car you could find him renovating his house or at the Puget Sound Go Kart Track racing with his son.
After cancer grounded his flying career, he became a pilot instructor for Horizon Airlines, a second career he truly enjoyed.
He had a ready smile and a booming laugh that you may have heard on the Voice of Vashon when he was the co-host of The Mostly True Radio Show.
Rob is also survived by his brother Bill Prince, sister Maureen Vinson (wife of the late David Vinson), nephews Billy and Austin Prince, nieces Jessica and Melissa Vinson, and many more much loved family and friends.
Rob will be missed by all who knew him.
Good Flight to you Captain Prince!
