Rita Ann Olson, returned to her heavenly home on March 24, 2015 after a fearless battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her sister Anita who passed during her youth. Her devotion to her family and friends supported her in her in struggle as she remained a brave, determined woman, even throughout her final days.
Rita was born on November 22, 1961 in Hermiston, Oregon to father Everett Olson and mother Jean Olive. She grew up in a loving family with two brothers and one sister. Rita graduated from Decatur High school in 1980, and went on to North Seattle Community college to complete her Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting in 1990. She later completed her Bachelors in Accounting in 2004 from Central Washington University.
Rita is survived by her father, Everett Olson and spouse Carolyn Olson; mother, Jean Olive; brothers, Jim Olson and Robert Olson; Nieces Kim and Brad Clark, Heidi Olson, Haley and Eric Schmidlin, and Jamey Olson; Sister-in-law Kris Olson; Her great nephew Carter Clark, great niece Paige Schmidlin, and Goddaughter Christina Lindh.
Rita will be remembered for her zest for life, boisterous laugh, unending sense of humor, dedication to work and family, and her commitment to always striving to be better. Rita loved children and they were always drawn to her. Although Rita never had children of her own, she was a mother, an aunt, and a grandma to so many in her life. Although Rita is no longer with us, her spirit will live forever in our hearts. Services for Rita were held at Bethel Evangelical Church on Friday, March 27th. Ritas ashes will be released from her 2008 mustang as this is where she felt the most free since having cancer.
