Rebecca Lynne Lowe, beloved grandmother, mother, partner, Montessori guide and scholar, bird watcher, puzzle enthusiast, found object assemblage artist, and “kindest person we are likely ever to know” designee to any and all who ever had the good fortune to know her, stepped into the great unknown on Monday, October 18, 2021.
Known affectionately as “Lita,” Rebecca loved Vashon Island.
Her much cherished grandchildren Neko and Walter live here, but perhaps just as important: Granny’s Attic and Rock It are here. Lita loved thrifting. She loved the hunt and the discovery of beautiful things and the story she imagined each previously-owned item contained. She also had great affinity for Vashon Island Bakery and the Creamery, as well as each and every coffee shop, the Bookshop, and Thriftway. In short, she was a Vashon Island superfan.
There was always room at Lita’s table, which means those who grieve her passing are found far and wide. We will miss her ready laugh, her unfailingly positive outlook, her creative spirit and, most notably, her indescribably huge heart.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Lowe. She is remembered and missed by husband Sam, children Jesse and Cara, stepdaughter Juniper and her husband Erik, grandchildren Neko and Walter, goddaughter Dana, father Phil (nearly 98!), countless friends, students, and admirers. Good dog Buddy Willis with an underbite only a mother could love, was a great companion through and through.
She was herself until the very end and we will hold her in our hearts for the rest of our days.
