Patrick McManus

Beloved, funny, brilliant and kind, McManus was not unlike the scientist he impersonated.

Patrick McManus, known to many as ‘Einstein’, was born on November 21, 1949, in Cook County, Illinois, and moved to Vashon Island 40 years ago.

He passed away the morning of August 21, 2024, at his south end home. Patrick is survived by his adopted son, William McManus, and his daughter, island resident Halla McManus.

Beloved, funny, brilliant and kind, Patrick has touched many lives, both in the Vashon community and all around the world, during his travels as an Albert Einstein impersonator.

A celebration of life for Patrick will be announced in the coming weeks.

His daughter Halla would like to share one of Patricks’ favorite Einstein quotes: “The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day.” —Albert Einstein

Friends of the family have set up a GoFundMe page to help assist his daughter Halla while she navigates her loss, and the heavy financial burden of her father’s passing. Any amount of support is greatly appreciated: https://gofund.me/fe866924
