Neal Saffer (1924-2010)

Beloved father of Diane Hillaire

of Vashon, passed away on

May 15, 2010 at age 86.

Many Vashon residents will remember

him as the owner/chef of Quesnel’s

restaurant in West Seattle, where

islanders would stop for take-out

on their way to the ferry line. He was

a generous & loving man, who when

picking blackberries on Vashon with his

grandson, Demytrius, would say –

“This is heaven”.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years,

Margaret Saffer; his daughter, Diane

Hillaire; grandsons Voir (Cecilia) Hillaire,

Garron (Marie) Hillaire; granddaughter

Tawnya (Ash) El-Masry; and great-grandsons

Henry Hillaire and Demytrius El-Masry.
