Nancy Lee VanDevanter, age 86, of Vashon Island, Washington, passed away June 23, 2024. She was born April 8, 1938, in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of Harvey Hutchins and Bertha “Marie” (Ernest) Harris. Nancy married John VanDevanter on July 20th,1964. He preceded her in death on November 1st, 2007.
Nancy loved boating with her husband, getting lost in a good book, wine tasting with the gals in Cashmere, Taekwondo to stay fit and horseback riding, as a girl.
Surviving are her children Susan (Don) Puz, Russ (Deneen) VanDevanter, Michael (Theresa) Cannata and Donald “Dutch” (Camille) VanDevanter. Also surviving are grandchildren Brian (Wendy) Puz, Erica (Mike) Ballau, Adair (Mitch) Lipp, Sandra (Aaron) Reynolds, Sarah (Gavin) Hayes, Travis (Angela) VanKrause, Wesley (Shavonne) VanDevanter, Eden (Libby) Jan, Jeffery (Corryn Collier) Ewing, Stacia Ewing, Matthew Ewing, Brandon (Lea) Jones and Dominique (Corey Patterson) Cannata; a boatload of great-grandchildren; as well as brother Harvey (Ruth) Hutchins and sisters Gay Hutchins and Shelly Hutchins and brother-in-law Vance Price.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Vandevanter, daughter Gina Marie Cannata and sister Natalie Price.
A graveside service took place at 12 noon on the 14th of September, 2024 at The Vashon Island Cemetery, 19631 Singer Road SW, Vashon, WA 98070.
