Nanci Laing Hertzog was born on 03/23/1931 in Anacortes, WA. She passed away peacefully at her home on 08/08/2009. She received her Masters Degree in Communications from the University of Washington. While in college she became the first woman hired as a lifeguard for the Washington State Parks. She also worked for the Girl Scouts for 25 years.
She married Richard Hertzog in 1956 and they moved to Vashon Island where they lived for 41 years and together for 50 years they had many adventures traveling to Europe, Kenya and Hong Kong as well as Canada and the United States.
Nanci was a woodcarver, painter and an award winning photographer. She is survived by her sister Georgie Talley (Terry), and many nieces, nephews and friends who were blessed enough to have known her.
In lieu of flowers please make remembrances to the Girl Scouts of Western Washington campership fund (St Albans).
