Mitch Treese passed away on March 21, 2021, on Vashon Island, at home with his wife and daughters with him. He was 71 years old, born June 15, 1949, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and lived on Vashon Island since 1988.

He was a loving husband, partner and best friend, to his wife, Michelle R. Stearns. A very proud and devoted father to his two incredible daughters, Marina Stearns Treese and Marika Stearns Jovanovich, and a second father to trusted son-inlaw Anton Kirk Jovanovich. A kind and wise Opa to his granddaughter Jocelyn Ann Jovanovich and grandson Desmond Friedrich Jovanovich (born April 24, 2021).

His parents, Carl and Ann Treese (nee Cox) predeceased him. He is survived by two sisters Judith Eppley (New Hampshire) and Carla Stanley (Alaska) and their families, and many more extended family members and friends on Vashon, in other parts of the United States and Germany.

He was a talented musician and singer. He was an International and National Master Builder and mentor. He was an accomplished sailboat Captain AND also loved the desert. He was a fixer of many broken things. He was brave and adventurous. He was a generous person and a mensch.
