Matthew J. Hill passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours on Monday, September 9, 2013 after 49 years of loving devotion to his family, friends, and community.
Matthew was born on November 15, 1963 in Spokane, Washington. Raised in West Seattle and on Vashon Island, he spent the last 20 years of his life raising his family in the Kent, Washington area.
Having recently left Costco after 30 years, he split his time between starting his own consulting company and volunteering as the fund development manager for Angels in Sports.
He is survived by his sons, Nicholas and Jonathan Hill; his grandsons, Shane and Derek Hill; his daughter-in-law, Patricia Hill; his parents, Sterling and Beverley Hill; and his siblings, Kimberley Nielsen, Christopher Hill, and Heather Sanders, as well as their spouses and children.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Star Lake Building (28616 48th Avenue South, Auburn, Washington), on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
A celebration of Matthew’s life will also be held on September 29, 2013 from 11–2 at Lake Wilderness Lodge (22500 South East 248th Street, Maple Valley, Washington, 425-432-9953). In lieu of flowers, Matthew’s family requests that donations be made in his name to Angels in Sports, his favorite charity:
