Martin T. King

Martin T. King died at his home on Vashon Island on September 15th, 2010. Martin had lived and worked on Vashon for 20 years. He was a humble and soft spoken man but his passion for community loomed large. He was a supporter of the Zen Center, the Backbone Campaign and VIGA, having started the ‘Food for Thought’ library for the Farmers Market. Martin was a veteran of Vietnam and before the Iraq war, could be seen on both ferry docks, demonstrating with an anti-war sign.

He loved all animals, but especially cats, and was an avid supporter of both the International Snow Leopard Trust and the Snow Leopard Conservancy.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl, mother

Mimi Pierce and his brother George King.

A memorial celebrating his life will be held at the Co-Housing Common House at 11:00 AM, Sunday, October 10th.
