Margaret (Jane) Macready

Margaret “Jane” Macready, long time summer resident of Vashon Island, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 13, 2016 in Fair Oaks, CA.

She was born January 11, 1916 in San Francisco but lived the majority of her life in Seattle where she married Lewis C. Macready in 1941 and raised their family of three children. Jane assisted and supported Lew with opening his new wholesale automotive business in Seattle, initially managing all the bookkeeping responsibilities. After retirement they travelled throughout the U.S. and later spent summers on Vashon and wintered in the California desert area enjoying golf in the warmer climate. After Lew passed in 1993, Jane continued her treks back and forth to Vashon and Indian Wells.

Jane filled her 100 years with a zest for living – enjoying travel, reading, arts, crafts, cooking, collecting recipes, golfing, and spending time creating special memories with her family and friends. Over the past 10 years Jane presided over the yearly family reunions every 4th of July on Vashon. She will be greatly missed by family and dear friends in both Washington and California but her ever present smile, independent strength, creativity and quirkiness will be remembered by all.

Jane is survived by her daughter Louann Weber and her husband Paul of Kirkland, Wa.; her son, J. Patrick Macready and his wife Marsha of Glacier, Wa.; and Janis Dahlberg and her husband Paul of Fair Oaks CA. Seven grandchildren called her Gram and eight great grandchildren called her “GG”. Her internment and memorial will be celebrated on Vashon this Spring.
