Lois Shigley was born in
Spokane on May 17, 1927.
She died March 14, 2009.
She grew up in Spokane,
graduating from Rodgers
High School in 1945.
After graduation she
attended Washington State
University for one year
before going to work in a
family restaurant in Sitka,
Alaska.
It was there that she met
and married her husband
Asa Shigley. They were
married for 60 years.
The couple moved to
Vashon in 1950. She spent
most of her life living on
Vashon. She traveled extensively,
however, with her

She loved going to new
places and experiencing
new cultures. She loved gardening,
cooking and most of
all, viewing Mount Rainier
and the shipping lanes from
her Gold Beach home. Asa
preceded her in death in
2006.
She is survived by her
three children, Rebecca
(Terry Raisio) and Mike of
Vashon, and Asa (Karen) of
Olympia, her grandchildren,
Sam, Ben, Asa, Mallory,
Tyson, Ryan, Jacquelyn and
Joe, and her three greatgrandchildren,
Hunter,
Natalia and Logan.
