Llewellyn D. ‘Lew’ Morse died Nov. 7, 2003, at home with his wife and family. He was 80 years old.
Mr. Morse was born Jan. 8, 1923. He was a 1940 graduate of Marysville High School. He was a captain and B-24 pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, he returned to the University of Washington where he played baseball and basketball and earned his degree.
He was one of the last cases of polio in the early 1950s just before Salk vaccine was developed. He was teaching and coaching basketball at Vashon High School at the time. There he formed many life long relationships.
Mr. Morse loved God, his family, friends and children of all ages. Over the years young people often dropped by to visit. He loved to joke with them and encourage them. He had a kind word, a smile, and always a little humor for everyone he met.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, a loyal friend and a kind man.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Donna, and his five children, Robert, Pegi, Susan, LuAnne and Sherry and eight grandchildren, Mollie, Krista, Jared, Steven, Jessica, Michael, Courtney and Caitlin, and his great grandchild, Evan.

A memorial service was last Friday at Mountain View Community Church, 12033 Seattle Hill Road, Snohomish.
