Karla Marie Erdt Tuma passed away, Wednesday July 30th, in the loving arms of her Mother Rhea, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Karla was born September 17, 1974. She grew up on Vashon and graduated with the VHS Class of 1992.
Karla was married in 1995 and briefly left her beloved Pacific Northwest, the California desert was not for her, she missed the rain and the mild weather of home. She returned home in 1999 and after a brief stay in Issaquah she made her forever home in Kent. Karla worked in banking after high school and then in the computer industry for WRQ now Attachmate. Karla’s passion was her family; she would often rally to be at all the family functions even when she was really sick. Her daughters were her life; she became a mother in 2002 to Shelby Rhianne followed by Grace Elizabeth in 2004, her focus was raising her two beautiful daughters. Karla was the most loving and caring Mother any two girls could have asked for and she will be
greatly missed.
Karla was diagnosed with breast cancer soon after Grace’s birth but fought hard to live for her girls, accepting every treatment option available to her and often demanding her doctor to think of a new plan. Her never give up attitude kept us all strong. Rhea moved in with Karla three and a half years ago and provided all her in home care and was her constant hospital companion. Without her, Karla would not have been able to stay in her home and be with her girls, for this Karla and her extended family are very grateful.
Karla loved to read and play computer games and she had recently learned to knit and make wonderful scarves and enjoyed making jewelry. Karla loved to camp and had hoped
to make one last camping trip so we hope heaven has a forest.
Karla is survived by her daughters Shelby and Grace, her parents Dan and Rhea Harvey. William Erdt. Her brothers Jeff (Rachelle) Erdt of Gig Harbor and Brian Erdt of Vashon. Nieces Peyton Erdt, Shayna Dobbins and nephew Mackenzie Dobbins and great nephew Jaxson. Aunts Linda (Steve) Hamilton and Lisa (John) Devereau all of Vashon. Cousins Colleen (Steve) Pokrandt, Robert (Nicole) Hart, Bill (Angela) Hart, Cody Plancich,

many friends.
