June Beyer Brooks was born in Chicago on June 4, 1922. She died on Vashon Island, Wash. on June 28, 2009.
June attended school in Armour, S.D. After college in Chicago, she taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in South Dakota.
In 1946, she met and married Kenneth Brooks, a soldier just back from the war. Their wedding was in Sioux Falls, S.D.
After living in Sioux Falls, Kansas City, Mo., Lead, S.D. and Rapid City, S.D., they moved to Vashon Island in August of 1966.
June was always busy, particularly enjoying travel, grandchildren, playing bridge, knitting, sewing and participating in various charitable activities.
June is survived by her husband Kenneth Brooks; a daughter Michelle Sigler; and three grandchildren, Stephen Belfrage, Holly Dunham and Michelle Diaz. She also had four great grandchildren, Jaquelyn and Jennifer Dunham, Daniel Belfrage and Caden Diaz.
The family especially wishes to thank Vashon Community Care Center on Vashon Island for the excellent care she received in her last seven months.
