Joyce Husmoe, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 4th, 2023 leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born in Seattle, she graduated from Rainier Beach High School before attending Central Washington University. Before settling on Vashon in 1972, Joyce lived in San Antonio, Texas and Frankfurt, Germany.
For over 30 years, Joyce worked at K2 Ski Corporation. She found joy in her passions: gardening, afternoons overlooking Quartermaster harbor with Jerry, managing a beloved carriage house rental, and fostering enduring friendships within the Vashon community.
Her family fondly recalls the little moments – bedtime lullabies, trips to The Little House, Friday ice cream treats, and heartfelt conversations while she cooked. We admire her unconditional love, calming presence, and tactful advice. She cherished a life colored by family gatherings, vacations to Whistler and Hawaii, holiday traditions, and warm bonfires shared with neighbors and friends.
Joyce is survived by her husband Jerry Johnson, children Connie Cunningham (Jeff), Brent Husmoe (Dawn), Nikki McConnell (Patrick), Tyler Johnson, and grandchildren Maia, Jack, Justin, and Matthew. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and first husband (Howard).
Joyce will be dearly missed and forever remembered for her selflessness, quiet confidence, and dry sense of humor that brightened the lives of all who knew her. We will miss you.
A celebration of life to be held on Saturday, 12/16 from 1-4pm at the Vashon Sportsman’s Club.
