Janice L. McCormick

Janice L. McCormick died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at her home. She was 67 years old.

She was born Feb. 23, 1936, to Fred and Dorothy Cook in San Jose, Calif.

She was proud of her career in nursing, and serving as an emergency medical technician on the island.

Music was always a big part of her life. She was an accomplished flutist, pianist and singer. She was also one of the Gaither Gospel Singers biggest fans.

Her favorite way to relax was sitting by her waterfront window reading a good book. Her most recent activities included her swim club and traveling to warm locations like Hawaii and Palm Springs.

Her mother Dorothy died earlier.

Survivors include her husband Dennis McCormick of Vashon Island, father and step mother, Fred and Leta Cook, Fresno, Calif., sister Dorothy Todd of Midlothian, Va. and Carol Heinz, brother Fred Cook, and children, Dave Cook, Michele Hansen, Karen Miller, Lynne Hamilton, Jeff Cook of Vashon Island, step daughters, Kate McCormick, Jan McCormick, and Abbie Lafky, 16 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nephews and nieces.

A family gathering was Nov. 1, 2003 to celebrate her life.
