James Vorhies

James Edgar Vorhies Jr. was born in Seattle on Jan 16, 1946, to James E. Vorhies Sr. and Dorothy A Vorhies. On the morning of Aug 30, 2010 he passed peacefully in his sleep. Jim was eldest of their 3 children and is survived by his brother Dennis and sister Debbie, also current wife Karon Vorhies, previous wife Lola Vorhies and children; Kristy Vorhies-Jensen (Rodney Jensen) and Andrea Vorhies (Chris Thieme), step children; Steve, Mindy and Robert. He enjoyed all of his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews at every possible opportunity. He served his country proudly for 23 years and retired as Chief Petty Officer (Communications System Technician and Control Supervisor) in the U.S. Navy, and a Vietnam Veteran. He achieved his life goal to practice the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy to become a practioner. He served a variety of positions at the 14th Church of Christ Scientist in West Seattle, including 1st Reader and church Clerk. He read aloud the weekly Bible lesson, at Daystar, for many years. We want everyone to know how important he was to all of us and how loved he will continue to be in our hearts for all of eternity. Remembrances and notes of love may be sent to his family at 15016 Vashon Hwy SW, Vashon Washington 98070. A celebration of life will be shared by family and friends at Daystar Retirement Village, on Sat. Sept. 11th, 2010 at 1pm, in the dining room of Bldg. 4. Recommended parking for those who are able, in the Westwood Plaza across the street. A private family celebration will be set at a future date, in Marblemount, WA.
