James T. Nicholson

James T. Nicholson died at his home at Tahlequah March 28, 2005, surrounded by his wife, Sharonlee, son Marshall and daughter-in-law Mary. He was 76 years old.

Mr. Nicholson was born June 4, 1928, in Seattle. He was the second son of John Flower Nicholson and Mary (Procunier) Nicholson.

He grew up in Seattle and Port Angeles. He served in the U.S. Navy and then continued his education at the University of Washington School of Business Administration. He married Norma Cook in 1952. She preceded him in death in 1976.

He was an accountant in the construction industry in Forks, Port Angeles and Seattle. In 1961 Jim and Norma bought the family home and raised Mark, Maxine and Marshall on the beach at Tahlequah.

Jim married Sharonlee (Werner) Church in 1978 and adopted Sharonlee’s daughter, Mehri Anna Church that year.

Mr. Nicholson retired in 1991 as controller for a small, regional construction company.

A life-long animal lover, Mr. Nicholson actively fostered pets for Vashon Island Pet Protectors and other needy animals. Jim and Sharonlee enjoyed traveling in their RV, set up to include pets on board.

Survivors include his wife Sharonlee; children Mark and his wife Frankie of Wasilla, Alaska; Maxine (Nicholson) Ousley and her husband Doug of Fort Worth, Texas; Marshall and his wife Mary of Vashon; and Mehri Anna Nicholson, Tualatin, Ore; brother Jack, wife Lorraine of Kenmore, Wash; grandchildren Adrienne Nicholson Farring, Laura Ousley Barclay, James Aaron Nicholson, Brian Ousley, Ashleigh Nicholson and Jerimaya Dominguez; and great-grandchildren Timothy and Erika Farring.

Family and friends celebrated Jim’s life on Vashon April 2.

He was buried at Vashon Island Cemetery.
