Jacob James Clark of Vashon Island died in Seattle on Oct. 20, 2009. He is survived by his partner, Joey Visco, his mother, Doris McGowan of Denver, his brother, George Clark of Parker, and sisters Cynthia Kessler of Socorro, N.M., and Sandy Walsh of Fort Worth, Tex.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Clark, in 1971. Clark spent his childhood in Aurora, Colo., and attended Temple Buell College and Illinois State University. He was active in the Denver theater community, where he and his late wife, Susan Stringer, co-founded the Industrial Arts Theatre in 1983.
In 1996 he relocated to the West Coast, where he worked as a theater critic for MetroLA and as an arts and entertainment writer for SGN. His plays have been produced in Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix and London.
Clark was a tireless activist who, in recent years, applied much of his time and talent to promoting social justice and ending human suffering.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 31, in Denver, Colo.
