Born Dec. 15, 1910, to Ward D. Clarke and Marcy C. Clarke, a Vashon Island Pioneer family, passed Dec. 7, 2010, in Sun City Az.

Irene was raised on Vashon, graduating from Vashon HS class of 1929.

She was a Tacoma resident for her early adult life where she raised her two children, daughter Sallie I Ward and son Robert G Ward.

Due to her husband Dan’s work she left Tacoma to live in New Orleans, La. from there to Holyhead, Wales and Tema, Ghana. Moving to Sun City, Az. for retirement, she and Dan each had a long and happy life, where she pursued her four great passions of shopping, entertaining, golf and bridge. Irene died eight days before her 100th birthday.

Besides her daughter and son she leaves three grandchildren Debora J Jepson, Robert G. Ward Jr and Scott G. Ward, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild all of this area.
