Henry A. Scholz died May 26, 2005, at his home on Vashon Island. He was 68 years old.
Mr. Scholz was born on July 25, 1936, to Karl Heinrich Scholz and Berta Luisa Henderika Hotes in Vancouver, Wash.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne, his sisters, Elsie, Delores and Norma and sons Nathan, Daniel and Mark. His second grandchild was born three weeks before he died. (Naomi and Gideon, children of Nathan).
Mr. Scholz attended Concordia High School in Portland, Ore. and graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska in 1958 with a degree in teaching.
While teaching in Seattle at Concordia Elementary, he was married to Joanne Marie Ehlen in 1964.
Their first two sons (Nathan and Daniel) were born in Seattle; then he moved his family to Vashon Island in 1970. Shortly thereafter, he became a member of Vashon Lutheran Church.
Mark was born the day that the family moved into the home Henry bought and lived in until the day he died.
After teaching for 35 years (including 25 years in the Vashon School District), Mr. Scholz retired in 1993. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, playing pinochle and watching baseball games.
Services were at Vashon Lutheran Church last Friday with Pastor Bjoern Meinhardt officiating.
