A long-time Vashon resident, Grant passed away surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 16, 1942, and died Nov. 10, 2008.
A graduate of Highline High School and the University of Washington, Grant worked in the lumber business and was a passionate woodworker, guitar player, gardener and car/airplane aficionado.
He is survived by Sally, his wife of 38 years, his mother Dorothy Shaw, his children and their spouses Sandra and Richard Helsten, Sarah and Scott Thompson, Richard and Adreanne (Radonich) Shaw, his five grandchildren Ryan and Sidney Helsten, Sterling and Savion Thompson, Stella Shaw, his sister Kathryn Shaw, his niece Holly Shaw and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at noon, Friday, November 21 at the Parish Church of St. John Vianney, 16100 115th Ave. SW, Vashon, followed by a reception.
A celebration of Grant’s life will be held at Dorothy Shaw’s at 4:00 p.m.
