Frederick Meyers

Frederick Martin Meyers, 71, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away March 21, 2010. In 2003, Fred and his wife Linda built their home on Vashon property that has been in the family for a hundred years. Fred’s grandparents immigrated to Seattle from Norway in the early 1900’s. They spent their summers on Vashon Island. Five generations have enjoyed boating, fishing, kayaking and playing on the beach.

Fred graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1956 and attended the University of Washington, where he joined Sigma Nu fraternity. He was a devoted Husky fan.

After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army as an Infantry Officer. Fred was a graduate of Ranger, Airborne, and Jumpmaster schools at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was very proud of his military experience and had a strong sense of patriotism.

Fred returned to the University of Washington Law school, where he graduated in 1965. Fred recently retired from the law firm of Mills, Meyers, Swartling. He was honored to be a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and was highly regarded in the legal community.

Married for 45 years to his beloved wife Linda, he felt his most meaningful accomplishment was his family. Fred’s great passions were fishing, photography and gardening. He was an accomplished fly fisherman and perfected the art of fly tying. Boating in the Canadian Gulf Islands with his family was one of his greatest pleasures. Fred and Linda became Master Gardeners and together created their dream garden.

Fred is survived by his wife Linda and their three children, Peter Meyers, Kristin Oberlander (Jeff), and Stephani Hendricks (Tre). He adored his six grandchildren and developed a special relationship with each of them.
