Ezra Zachary Spurlock was born on July 7, 1972, to Deborah Kostka & Kim Spurlock, teenage parents from Glendora, California.
Zach suffered much in his 51 years of life. After 10 long years of major health trials, he took his last breath on February 2, 2024, in Camas, Washington. He spent some of his happiest years on Vashon Island, Washington, first as a small boy and then as a pre-teen, a young man and then as a broken man. While homeless he would often visit the island in his wheelchair.
He was married to the love of his life, Leea Gallimore, for eight years. He served for a short time in the Army, was a long distance truck driver, studied and became a nurse before succumbing to ongoing chronic illness.
Zach was a generous, kindhearted, difficult, complicated & exasperating soul. His life here was full of rejection and pain. May his afterlife be full of love and peace.
He is predeceased by his grandpa, Homer Spurlock, and devoted grandma, Eunice Kostka.
He is survived by his sister Rain Whittaker of Philmont, New York, his brother Jascha Rynek of Portland, Oregon, Emma Hathaway of Vashon, Washington, Simon Hathaway, Washington, Clayton Squire, Massachusetts, his loving aunts and uncles Cindy Lundeen, California, Scott Kostka, California, Jaci Hasemeyer, Utah, Chris Kostka of California, his uncle Kirk Spurlock of Vashon, Washington, and his aunt Kay Hermanns of Vashon Washington. He leaves behind many more siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews dotted around the United States.
If you wish to honor him, please be kind to the downtrodden of this world. If you wish to make a donation please consider a local homeless shelter.
Rest In Peace Zach.
