Elinor Rose Reid Reilly died on Good Friday, March 25, 2005, at the Horizon House in Seattle where she had lived for a decade. She was 87 years old.
She was born March 13, 1918, in Seattle. She was the youngest of nine children born to Harriet and John Reid, who was the editor to the precusrsor of The Beachcomber, The Island Record, from 1907 to 1915.
Mrs. Reilly graduated from Roosevelt High School and was the ninth Reid child to graduate from the University of Washington. She married Philip Alan Reilly on Feb. 12, 1942. They lived in Bellevue for some 20 years and then on Bainbridge Island for 25 years. They had a summer cabin on Dolphin Point on Vashon Island where she spent her summers with her extended family.
Her husband, Phil, died in 1998, and her oldest son, Larry, died in 1996.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Reilly of Burton, a son, Brian Reilly of Bellevue, four grand-daughters, Coriel O’Reilly and Kaleena Hariliss of Port Orchard, Christa Self of Vashon, and Sunny Reilly of Bellevue and one great-grandson, Tyler Harliss of Port Orchard. A service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at the Horizon House Chapel. A reception will follow.
