Eleanor Jean “DeeDee” Arnold, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away at her home surrounded by love on July 3, 2021. Dee was born January 18, 1936, on Vashon Island to Lucas George Plancich Sr. and Effie Vivian McKay Plancich, she had eight siblings. Dee grew up on Vashon, married and had three children Dick Baker, Bryan Baker and Judy Buchanan. Dee lived in Westport for some years and loved the ocean and gathering shells and agates. When Dee returned to Vashon she lived at Charter House Apartments and kept the gardens there looking wonderful for many years. While at Charter House she made many friends and enjoyed morning coffee hour next door at JG Commons. Dee loved her family more than anything else and enjoyed many visits from family, especially the yearly picnic in Dockton.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, six of her siblings and her beloved son Richard E. Baker, Jr. on December 23rd, 2015. She is survived by her son Bryan and daughter Judy, daughter-in-law Julie A. Baker (Mark Clinton), her brothers Russ and Allan (Bonnie). Grandchildren Christopher Bryan Baker, Michelle Jean Baker (Morgan Brown), Edward Anthony “Eddie” Baker (Miesha Swensen Baker), Timothy Buchanan, Kallee Buchanan, Isabelle. Greatgrandchildren Ashley Baker, Joe Baker, Sierra Lynn Johnson, Donaven Saldana & Luca Scott Baker. She is also survived by her honorary niece Lisa (John) Devereau and their children Cody Plancich, Danielle (Tom Steves) Devereau and Cole Devereau and her best friend Bonnie Nelson and her beloved cat, Maynard as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.
At Dee’s request, no formal service was held. Her cremated remains and those of her son Dick, sister Ione and brother Gordon were scattered in the waters near Dockton where they all grew up, during her much-loved family picnic.
