Donald Arthur Erickson (Don) was born June 9, 1930 in Ballard, WA to Hugo and Lillian (Nasmark) Erickson and was called Home on November 20, 2020.
He grew up at the family farm on Vashon Island, WA and graduated from Vashon High School. He was a USAF veteran and served during the Korean War. Don had a curious mind which led him to follow a career in engineering after he proudly graduated from the University of Washington.
He spent time in California, designed and built a beautiful home on Vashon, flew his Cessna 172 N35359 throughout the Pacific Northwest, drove the Alcan Highway to settle in Fairbanks and eventually retired in Montana.
In 2001 he married Diane (Barr) and they made their home Kalispell. He was an engineer’s engineer and loved building, golfing, games, playing Dirty Rat, tinkering on his VW bug and camper, gardening, designing, calculating, but most of all he loved just being a dad to his children Hans and Jenny!
A plate of hardtack with pickled herring would always bring a smile to his face. He dearly missed his brother Frank (Patricia) and sister Marion (Tom) who preceded him in death along with their parents. He is survived by his wife Diane, sister Arleen (Jack) Lundin, son Hans (Arden) Erickson, daughter Jennifer (Des) Policani and step-children Scott, Tyrone and Trevor Barr. Uncle Don will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews!
The family would like to thank the amazing team at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center Covid team for stepping in and caring for Don.
