Dominic Russell Nelson, fondly known by friends and family as Nicky, was born on April 10th, 1979.
Nicky had an insatiable appetite for adrenaline and adventure. There was no hill too steep, no roof too high, no mountain too far; he was riding, sliding, flying or jumping to the bottom.
Nicky took his passion to LA where he attended school to become a Stunt Man. He drove a race car, was thrown from the top of buildings and even got set on fire!
The adrenaline addiction didn’t stick, and the big city life was just too fast. Nicky returned to Vashon / West Seattle area. After a few years and one visit to a friend, he knew just what he wanted – a smaller town than Vashon.
Nicky settled down in Tenakee Springs, Alaska where he thrived in the peace and quiet, exactly what he’d been looking for. Nicky was a beloved member of their community – well known for his helpfulness, smile and the extra time spent with their senior population.
Nicky’s passing was sudden and unexpected and leaves a gaping hole in the hearts of his Mom and sisters; Jean, Katie & Roxanne
Nicky’s ashes will be scattered on Vashon by his family on what would have been his 44th birthday.
If there is one thing that we can all take away from living and loving on Vashon – take no day for granted, because tomorrow is not a guarantee.
