Dennis Alexander Hidell died in his home Sept. 27, 2008, from heart failure.
He was living in Apache Junction, Ariz. Born Jan. 6, 1941, in Seattle, Hidell was raised in Dockton on Vashon Island.
He graduated from Vashon High School in 1959 and entered the Air Force.
While stationed in England, Hidell was part of a locally renowned rock band called the Checkmates.
After his honorary discharge from the service, he entered the University of Washington, where he was listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges.
After graduation, Hidell worked for Pan Am Airlines. Later, he received his master’s degree from the University of Washington.
After he retired, he enjoyed traveling the United States extensively on his motorcycle, playing his guitar and singing.
Hidell is survived by two sisters, a niece, a great-niece, two great-nephews, many cousins and friends. He is greatly missed by all who knew him, family said.
